What This Does

The Text Annotation feature adds documentation, notes, and explanatory text directly to your workflow canvas. Use it to explain workflow logic, document business rules, add instructions for collaborators, or clarify complex transformations. When to Use Text Annotations

Use text annotations when you need to:
  • Document workflow purpose - Explain what this workflow does and why it exists
  • Clarify complex logic - Add notes explaining why certain transformations are needed
  • Provide instructions - Guide other users on how to modify or run the workflow
  • Highlight important sections - Mark critical nodes or processing steps

Step-by-Step Usage Guide

Add text annotation to canvas

Type your annotation

Position annotation

Tips and Best Practices

Document Workflow Purpose: Add a text box at the top explaining what the workflow does, data sources, and output destination.
Explain Complex Logic: When using formulas, joins, or aggregations with business-specific rules, add text explaining the “why” behind the logic.
Section Headers: Use text annotations as section headers to organize large workflows (e.g., “Data Preparation”, “Calculations”, “Output”).
Collaborator Instructions: Add notes for team members: “Update this filter monthly”, “Don’t modify aggregation logic”, “Contact @jane for questions”.
Business Context: Document business rules that aren’t obvious from node configuration (e.g., “Exclude refunded orders per finance team policy”).
Keep It Concise: Write brief, scannable notes. Long paragraphs make workflows cluttered. Use bullet points for clarity.
